Drifter Ferments is a community-inspired local foods hub in the Hudson Valley, born out of a passion for teaching people how to integrate fermentation into their daily lives.
Drifter Ferments is a fermentation specialty shop and café in Warwick, NY that crafts fermented foods, sells locally-sourced grocery items from New York, and serves farm-to-table casual fare and drinks. We prioritize ingredients from local farms and purveyors who use organic and/or fair trade practices. In addition to our offerings, Tara, the owner of Drifter Ferments, provides educational classes and resources for individuals interested in learning how to ferment food at home.

Meet Tara
Tara is an educator and writer with over 10 years of experience in food fermentation. From 2013 to 2019, she traveled the United States with her educational non-profit Fermentation on Wheels, teaching fermentation to students of all ages and backgrounds. In 2017 Tara published a book titled Fermentation on Wheels (Bloomsbury Publishing), which is a collection of road stories and do-it-yourself fermentation recipes. Settling in the Hudson Valley in 2020, she opened Drifter Ferments to share her knowledge and passion for fermentation with her local community and beyond.
